John MANNION, Sr. was born in County Galway, Ireland on 17 March 1822.

He emigrated to America in 1848.

On 23 December 1856, he married Miss Margaret GORMELY [also spelled "Garmely"] in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. She was also from County Galway, Ireland.

She was born in 1834 and died in 1918.

The couple had more than seven children. The family settled near Augusta, Butler County, Kansas. They were members of the Catholic Church and until 1879 services were held in the log cabin on their property {until a new church was built}.

John Mannion, Sr. died on 30 Jul 1908 in Butler County, Kansas, USA. He was buried in Calvary Cemetery, Butler County, Kansas, USA. [See Findagrave.com]
