Migrated to/Born in UK

Maria Carpenter married William Cassell on 26 February 1835 at Balliboy and Killoughy, County Offaly. They baptised 3 young children (this could be 5 young children because 2 appear in the English census returns but baptisms have not yet been found). They migrated to England between 1845 and 1848 where a further 3 children were baptised.

Maria was counted in the 1851, 1861, 1871 and 1881 Liverpool census returns. Maria died on 26 October 1885 at her home address of 11th Court, Dryden Street, Liverpool. The cause of death was given as Senile Decay and Bronchitis. She was buried in Ford Cemetery, Liverpool on 29 October 1885 her age was noted as 63 years, widow of William Cassell, Labourer. The death certificate noted the informant as her son Thomas Cassell who was present at her death.

No baptism has yet been found however from the ages given in the Liverpool census returns and her death and burial, it would appear that Maria would have been born sometime between 1816 and 1822 (meaning she was aged between 13 and 19 when she married). Her place of birth is not known.
