Mary Ann Sheridan is my maternal great great grandmother and has been my brick wall for 26 years. She was born in Ireland in 1846 - not known where (yet). Many family stories state she was born in Liverpool so I checked and there is a Sheridan Family in Lancashire in the 1851, 1861, 1871 census' with father Thomas born in Ireland and daughter MaryAnn born in Ireland in 1846. Wife and other daughters all born in Lancashire. Per census Mary Ann emigrated in 1863 - nor sure where she landed - she is not listed in the 1871 UK census. She was in San Francisco by 1864 as that is when she gave birth to her daughter Margaret Loretta Mullen. Mary Ann was widowed by 1866 - her husband James Mullen drowned. She then married John McNally and had 5 more children with him in San Francisco. All of these children list their mother as from England yet on all US census' Mary Ann stated she was born in Ireland. With the conflagration in 1906 many churches were burned to the ground so unable to get marriage information to validate parents' names. Mary Ann died in 1900 in San Francisco and is buried in Colma (south of San Francisco).
Any assistance with her place of birth, immigration, Mullen marriage would be greatly appreciated. Another family tree has listed her place of birth as Dublin but no confirmation of that.
