Mary Costell and her husband, Thomas Gormley, immigrated to Amherst Island, Ontario, Canada before 1831.  Mary likely was born in the Townland of Ballinagare, Kilcorkey Parish, County Roscommon since she placed an ad in the Boston Pilot in 1855 searching for her brothers, Michael and Bernard, from Ballinagare.  Mary and Thomas had five daughters - Margaret (b. 1831), Mary (b. 1832), Eliza (b. 1835), Cath (Kate b. about 1847), and Anna (b. about 1849), and two sons - J (b. about 1839) and John (b. about 1845).
