Mary Ellen (Nelly) Littleton was born in either Limerick or Clare County Ireland around 1805. She married Martin Cain/Kane and had several children: Michael (born 1829), Martin (1833), Patrick (1834), Thomas (1835), and Ellen (1842). The children were baptized in Kilnoe, Clare, Ireland.
Mary Ellen Littleton left Ireland for the United States in 1846 but died en route and was buried at sea.
