Mary Herron was born 1812 in Co. Kilkenny, and that's almost all I know. Her mother's maiden name was probably Henerby. She had sisters Catherine and Anastasia, and a brother William. I'm not sure when she arrived in Canada, or which of her family, if any, were with her. About 1830 she married William Lightheart, the son of a United Empire Loyalist of German descent (his family's original name was Lückhard); the first of their nine children was born 1833 in Chinguacousy, Peel County, Upper Canada (now Ontario). The census of 1861 found them living in Nottawasaga, Simcoe County, where Mary died 1 January 1893. She is buried with William in Collingwood, Ontario.

Mary's surname was either Herron or Hearn - it's Herron on her headstone, but several of her children's wedding records gave their mother's name as 'Hearn'.
