My gggrandfather, Mathew Cahill was born in Chapel Lane Cashel in 1804 and died in 1864. He married Mary Nugent and they had 6 children (I think) - Margaret, Catherine, Honora, Mathew , Alice and Mary (not sure about her). He was a butcher at the Shambles.
Their son Mathew was my ggrandfather. He was born around 1843 and moved to Victoria Australia. He married Catherine Maher in 1872 in Melbourne, Victoria Australia. I wonder if they knew each other before they came to Australia as Catherine was born in Tipperary too and the sponsors at his baptism were Pat Maher And Cath. Foley.
I went to Cashel several years ago and saw the street where he lived, but the house is no longer there. I would love to know if any relatives of my Cahill's still live there, especially descendants of Mathew's sisters.
