Based on my research and information included in a family bible, I believe that Michael O'Brien was born in Clare Abbey, Ennis, Clare County, Ireland about 1816.
It also appears that he married Susan Doherty and that their 6 or 7 chilren were baptized in Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Susan apparently died about 1855 and the remainder of the O'Brien family migrated to America in 1862 or 1863. They eventually settled in Red Wing, Goodhue County, Minnesota. Mary, one of Michael's daughters, married James Sanders (my great grandfather) on 8 October 1868.
James was allegedly from Dublin, Ireland and he came to America as a young boy with his family in about 1835. Michael, Mary, and James Sanders moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota in the 1880's. Michael died in Sioux Falls on 5 Mar 1890.
