Mrs. Catherine Corcoran was born on May 27, 1834, in Baileyart, County Wexford, Ireland. When she was a young girl she emigrated with her parents and settled in Ohio in the United States.
In the late 1840s, she married John Corcoran. They came to DesMoines, Iowa in 1856.
The Corcorans had eleven children including:
Mary, Margaret, MJ., John E., James W., and others.
Mrs. Corcoran celebrated her eightieth birthday as well as a family reunion on May 27, 1914, in DesMoines, Iowa. [See image in an article showing many of those in attendance].
Mrs. Corcoran died in January 1916 at the age of 82.
