Nicholas Veale was the son of Maurice Veale (1779-1864) and Ellen Cummins (1772-1847) of Ballinaharda, Old Parish, Dungarvan. They had four children, Margaret, Ellen, Nicholas and John Joseph. 

The 1901 census states Nicholas  was a retired soldier (Royal Artillery). 

Margaret (1881-1941) married Richard Fitzgerald (1882-1949) from Cloyne Co Cork. Their daughter Margaret Mary (1913-) is my paternal grandmother.
