Patrick Cahill was born in May 1853, the son of John Cahill and his wife Catherine (Kate) ( nee Delahunty).
He was baptised in Loughmore, Co. Tipperary on 27 May 1853. The family’s address was recorded as Whitefield.
Pat’s older siblings were Mary and Philip, and younger ones were John, Catherine, James and Ellen.
Mary and Philip were obviously important family names as the first two children of the family who died in infancy were also given those names.
Pat and Philip moved to England in the early 1870s, initially to Bolton. Pat later moved to Manchester and worked as a labourer.
Hé later met and married Maggie Griffin, who had also moved from Templemore, Co. Tipperary with her family. They settled in Rusholme.
Pat’s children, born in Chorlton between 1882 and 1900, were Mary Ellen (Atkinson); John Cahill, Catherine (Kitty) (Carney), Maggie (McKeown), Philip Cahill, Michael Cahill and Annie (Armstrong).
Pat died in April 1918 in Prestwich, Manchester.
