Patrick was my gr.gr.grandfather.  His parents were James Lally (b.c.1773) and Annie nee Brett (b.c.1775)

Patrick (aged 4) and his familyappear in the fragment of the 1821 census, living in Knoackatogher.  They moved from here soon after a scandal caused by his insane brother murdering his grandmother.  Patrick then appears in London where his first child was born in 1848.  He married Elizabeth White, the mother of his two children, in 1851. They had nine children in total.  In all British censuses and other records Patrick is recorded as a nurseryman or gardener.  He died in Kensington workhouse in 1895.

Patrick's life story is told in my book "The Leaving of Loughrea - An Irish Family in the Great Famine"

His birth date and details of parents were found in the record of Patrick's admission to Nazareth House RC Home for Aged Poor in Hammersmith London in  1887.
