  •    In 1990 I visited Ireland for the first time.  We went to Shrule. We were driving into Shrule.  My husband's comment was, "I know now why your family ended up in Nebraska.  It looks like Shrule!" We didn't find any living McTigue/McTygue/Tighe in Shrule.  We did find some in the cemetery. My family has spelled the name in many different ways.  Patrick's older brother Michael changed Tygue to Tighe in 1905 in Rock County Wisconsin.    I am very lucky that I found 3 of the McTigue baptismal records in Shrule.  They gave me the townland where the family lived.  Using the Tithe Applotment records I have been able to find Patrick's grandfather , Thomas McTige in Cloonbanaun in 1827.
