  • Have a new photo (above) of Robert MCKAY circa 1880/1890. Adelaide, South Australia. Robert died in Clare, South Australia in 1922.  He was born in Antrim circa 1833, married in Killyglen, Larne in 1858, then moved to Dalry, Ayr, Scotland before migrating to South Australia in 1865 with his wife Jane LAVERTY and his two children Roseanna and James. Would love to hear from anyone who may have more information on Robert and Jane.  Marg Boardley, Busselton, Western Australia.

  • Further to the comment above, have found a Death Certificate for Rose MCKAY, 82 years, Widow of labourer, Killyglen. Sarah MCKAY signed present at death.

In the 1851 census, 8 Dromain, Upper Glenarm, Grange of Killyglen.

Rose MCKAY, 45, married 1821, Widow

    Sarah MCKAY, 21, RW, unmarried

    Archibald, 16, RW, unmarried

    Robert, 16, RW, unmarried

    Mary, 14, RW, unmarried.

Seems to be the same family I am looking for, but have a census with Robert MCKAY and his brother, Thomas MCKAY, (1826) living in Dalry, Ayr, Scotland.

Also believe they were not Catholic.

Does anyone know where I can find Graveyard entries for this area?
