Most of their children emigrated to the U.S. and settled around Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.
Sarah can be found in a passenger list for the ship Algeria, arriving in New York City on 1 April 1875. Listed near her are her sister Ellen and a young man named Peter Shannon, who was probably a neighbor and relative by marriage. Sarah and her husband George Dempsey lived on a farm in Dover Township, Cuyahoga County, west of Cleveland.
