Thomas John Fallon was born on 17 May 1906 in Clooncah, Kilgefin, County Roscommon. He was one of seven children, Cecelia, Martin, John (died in infancy), Stephen, Margaret, John and Teresa. His family lived with their elderly grandfather Martin Fallon at house 20 in Clooncah. The house had three rooms and six front windows. The Fallons kept one servant- William Reid from Dublin.
Thomas's eldest brother inherited the family farm at Clooncah. He got a farm in Clooncunny from his grandfather Bernard Lennon. He married Mary Kate Caslin of Cloonshee on 3 June 1935, witnessed by his younger brother John and her sister Bridie. They had five children together.
