Migrated to/Born in New Zealand

Thos King's father was also Thomas King (variously listed as  a mariner, sea pilot and farmer on childrens death records)  and his mother was Mary Supple. They are believed to have lived in the Crookhaven/Goleen area.

Thos's adult RC baptism was on 18 July 1851 in Schull West (Goleen) Parish - the only Itrish record forhim so far found.

He is understood to have emigrated on his own firstly to England (where he may have studied as a ship builder?) and then to New Zealand  arriving probably around 1862.

In New Zealand he married Catherine Walsh (also from Ireland) on 30 Jan 1868 in Christchurch Catholic Cathedral.

They had 8 children - one of whom - James King (1882-1955)- is my grandfather

He is inderstood to have been both a carpenter and a  farmer.
