Walter was born in Castlebar around 1832; his father was John Fitzmaurice; he came to Blackburn in Lancashire early 1850s, and he married Mary McNally in 1855. We think John may have had some sort of shop in possibly Bridge st and later/earlier in Market St. Would be grateful for any help. Thanks.

I do have some comments as i

have 2 Walter Fitzmaurices in my family tree, one 1872-1903, his father was John Lawson Fitzmaurice 1837-1904 who moved from Co Mayo to Birmingham and married Ann Stevens, all probably a generation too late for your Walter.. Walter is a very unusual name in the family were from the area. John moved to Birmingham where my mother was born (her mother was Mary Fitzmaurice) - so I am also trying to find the link. I know there has been mention of Blackburn in my tree and hope to come across it eventually. Do you have DNA test results ? That is where I have failed with the Fitzmaurice family.... .. sure there is a link somewhere and I do have a lot more info if you wish to get in touch- see below. Regards Anne Michaux
