William Joseph Aloysius Mahoney emigrated to Canada at the age of 12 as a British Home Child around 1886. He believed himself to be an orphan and thought his mother's name was Mary Ann Greene(or similar). He didn't know his father's name. He said he came from Wexford although searching has found no trace of his family there so he was likely born elsewhere. DNA testing of his son and grandaughter shows Munster/Cork as his likely place of origin. His birthday was November 17, year unsure of but was estimated to be 1871, but possibly anywhere between 1870 and 1875. He had no birth certificate but did have a photo of himself around 1-2 years old with his mother. Would love to determine his family origins - DNA testing of his son and grandaughter has not resulted in any discoveries.
