Dr. John Oswald tipped to succeed Synge as Anglican Bishop of Elphin

Oxford Journal - Saturday 13 February 1762

"We hear that Dr. Oswald, second Chaplain to his Excellency the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, and Prebendary of Westminister, will succeed Dr. Synge, in the Bishoprick of Elphin."

However, on March 3rd 1762, William Gore got the job and John Oswald was appointed to the Bisoprick of Clonfert and Kilmacduagh (left vacant by Gore's transferral).
