Drinagh is today renowned for its successful soccer team Drinagh Rangers FC who have won many titles since their inception in 1983. But not as well known is the successful GAA football team of the 1950s who won the West Cork Junior B championship. Local people testify that the team played their games at "The Lawn" a field located in Shandrum on the land of the old Rectory buildings. Some of the local people on that team in the 1950s were: Con O'Regan, Ted McCarthy (Shandrum), Jack Walsh (Toughbawn), Seamus Hegarty, Pad Connolly, Tom Hegarty, Mick Cahalane, John Quinn, Tim O'Regan, Jerry Sheehan, Paddy Quinn.
Info on the members of the team is taken from the Drinagh People Facebook Group.
