Image: This must be a juvenile team from Caherline Club probably in the 1930's. It was in an old photo album belong to one of the Rainsfords of Newtown and may contain some of the Lewis's from there. Any help in identification would be welcome

  • My name is Donie O Sullivan and my mother was Mary Rainsford from Newtown,Caherconlish and my grandparents  were William and Maggie Rainsford .I have compiled a major family tree on these Rainsfords,Maddens,Hayes',hickeys  Lewis's etc from  Caherconlish,Dromkeen and Nicker areas. There are still a few gaps in my tree and one concerns Caherline Hurling Club.I know that some of my ancestors ,lewis's and maddens played for Caherline club but I have no details of their involvement.I do have a photo of a juvenile hurling team thet may contain some of these and i will attach a copy so.if anyone can identify the players, the occasion and the location of the photo I would be delighted.I am assuming the photo is a Caherline one as it was in my mothers possessions and she was born in 1918 and from the shape of the hurleys I guess the photo is 1930-1940's period..as a matter of interest my Grandmother Maggie Rainsford nee Hayes attended Caherline school from 1893-1902

Looking forwarrd to getting a response
