Considerable panic haa been caused in several districts in the neighbourhood of Carrick on Shannon by the appearance of potato blight. In the majority of instances it is hoped that the injury done to the crop will he of a very trivial character, but in the neighbourhood of Croghan, County Roscommon, potato gardens have been severely stricken, the majority of the leaves being burned and discoloured by the unwelcome visitant.  [Nenagh Guardian  July 28, 1883; Page: 3]
