The Killeedy Monastery - a place of learning and healing by both monks and nuns alike.

St.Ita came to Killeedy and set up the first church in 546 - this later became acknowledged as a monastery and was a place of learning and healing by both monks and nuns alike.

The Norsemen raided the monastery on more than one occasion and the Vikings set fire to Killeedy in 845.

However a new church was soon built on the site but some of the original stonework still exists today.
