Hi .. is their a way the find out if my g grandfather was living in a workhouses in county Galway before coming to Australia in 1851 he couldn't read or write . Peter lynch was born 1826 /1825 ?

I don't believe there are any records of inmates at the Ballinasloe workhouse back to 1851. That would have been at the end of the famine period and the workhouses were overcrowded. Many inmates died. You may have seen this site https://www.workhouses.org.uk/Ballinasloe/ but if not here is some background on the Ballinasloe workhouse.
