Hello,

I wondered if you could please tell me where I can look for further baptism records in the Broadford Parish. They stop abruptly at early 1881 despite marriage records continuing after this time. Is there another book or were they recorded in a different parish? Is the book lost?(Heaven forbid!) . Where do I go to find births and baptisms in this parish post early 1881 please?

Thank you!

  • Most of the NLI Films of the Catholic registers cut off around the 1880s, as by that time civil birth, marriage & death records were well established. The Broadford area would have been included in Limerick registration district. You can search civil BMD records on the (free) IrishGenealogy website. In some cases pay-website RootsIreland has transcripts of later parish records, but they currently only have a small number of Co. Clare parish transcripts, and none for Broadford.

  • Dear Barred_Bandicott:

In addition, you may be able to find some information through Censuses about family members and then trace them back to the Irish Genealogy website.  You might want to note that the Registration District will be Limerick for any civil events (births, marriages or deaths)  if they have taken place in Broadford.

If you need further assistance, please let me know.

    All the best,

    Jane.
