I am searching for information on my GGGGparents who I think were born in County Clare. Patrick Brennan and Margaret Flanagan both born circa 1800. They married in Ireland and I have found them having four children baptized in the Parish of Sixmilebridge circa 1835. They emigrated to Canada in approx 1848 and settled in London, Ontario. They appear to have only brought one child to Canada. I have not been able to find anything about their other children, perhaps they died during the famine or perhaps they did not want to leave Ireland. Any help would be most appreciated.

  • Dear noadca:

Thank you for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out message board and welcome to the site.

I have had a quick look through some of the Clare Library online resources for you but I have not come across either surname.  If you are not aware of the Clare Library, this website is a great place to start for your Clare research.  The link is below:

    http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/genealog.htm

In addition, you might want to contact the Sixmilebridge parish office as their parish secretary is very helpful and may be able to look up further information for you.  The email address is below:

    office@sixmilebridgeparish.ie

You might also note that the Sixmilebridge parish registers are online through the National Library of Ireland.  The link is below:

Finally, there is a local historian in Sixmilebridge, and if you would like me to contact him, please email me at:  jhalloranryan@irelandxo.com and I will do so.

The very best of luck with your research!

    Kind regards,

    Jane.
