Researching a direct ancestor named Lawrence Lynch b. 1734/35 who is said to be the son of Sir Henry Lynch, 5th Baronet of Castlecarra, Mayo Co.  Burke's Peerage lists Sir Henry and wife Mary Moore as having an heir, Robert, two daughters Harriet and Anna with two other sons...the sons names are not listed.  A handwritten manuscript of the "Pedigree of Lynch Afterwards Lynch-Blosse Baronets and of Castle carra. Co. Mayo 1250-c. 1812" on microfilm at the National Library in Dublin has: Sir Robert Lynch 6th Baronet; Peter Lynch of Moate in Co. Galway; Anne, wife of the Hon Henry Browne, son of Lord Altamont; Eliza wife of Geoffry Browne of Castle Magarset,  Co. Mayo, and that's it no other son?  Historians in Massachusetts claim that Lawrence Lynch is the son of Sir Henry but proof of this is not known.  Massachusetts is where Lawrence settled after leaving Ireland sometime in the early 1750's.

Someone posted a message or information on Sir Henry Lynch, 5th Baronet stating that he changed his religion from Catholic to Protestant so that he could wed Mary.  I would be interested in knowing how this fact is known as Lawrence was not Catholic in Massachusetts but a Congregationalist and it is a known fact that this line of the Norman Lynches were Catholic and Jacobites.

  • Jane - Thank you I tried what you suggested and it came up no record?  Unclear as to how to operate your website or the link has not been made between Henry Lynch and the owner of the document I am seeking.  Help please.   Thank you, Kathleen
