While William Egan's siblings were born in Kilbride, it has been passed down that William Egan was also born in Frenchpark.

William Egan Sr., his wife Catherine Murphy, and their children moved to Manchester UK in the late 1840's.

William Egan Jr. & his brother, John, joined the KOB and fought for the british army in Malta, Gibraltar, China, and South Africa, before leaving the army with long service when they arrived in Montreal Canada aboard the warship the Himalaya on June 29 1864.

Ann Dyer's census record says that she emigrated in 1860. However, she did not emigrate with her parents. At the time of her marriage to William Egan in Montreal in 1866 - she states her parents are still alive in Roscommon.
