I have found a baptism listing for I believe my x4  g grandfather.

Cork & Ross South Parish. 4th February 1801 Thomas Canty of "Evergreen."

Father Jerry Canty of Evergreen. Mother Mary Sisk of Evergreen.

Sponsor 1 Charles Crowly, Sponsor 2 Mary Brein.

Where or what would "Of Evergreen" have been?  A house, land, or a townland?

This Thomas Canty from the Durrus Parish. ?

I can not find any information about it. Any help much welcomed. Thank you.

  • Tiscanty, You can see the above information on the church tab at www.irishgenealogy.ie. He was baptized at St. Finbarr's (south) in Cork City. Evergreen is probably the name of the street where they lived. A quick Google search will show you Evergreen Rd. in Cork City.

  • Thank You Carolyn This genealogy takes down a lot of rabbit holes. Hopefully one day I'll go down the right one. It's difficult to make a definitive connection between My England ancestors and the Irish ones.
