I am looking for infomation on the Fallon family that lived in Ballinagare. Francis (John) Fallon, 1853-1941, was a farmer there and was married to Mary Leonard in the chapel in Ballinagare in 1878. It appears that John's siblings had immigrated to Pittsburgh, Pa. by 1910 all of Johns children also left for Pittsburgh except for his youngest daughter Isabella who Married a William Leonard. I believe Isabella and William Leonard stayed in the area. One son, Frank Fallon was said to have returned to Ireland after 1919 but I have been unable to find any more on him. He was married to Mary Jane Mulrooney in Derreen, County Roscommon in 1915. Any information of on the family who remained in Ireland, or immigrated would be most appreciated.

    Hello again!

William Leonard and Isabella Fallon married in February 1923 (see third record on third link

Later that year, an infant Isabella died

Did not find a death record for William or Isabella. Maybe they died after 1969 when records are not available, maybe they did not register the deaths or they moved to another part of Ireland or emigrated.

  • There was a WIlliam Leonard in Derreen until relatively recent who was almost certainly a son of the William Leonard you were enquiring about. He was certainly married but don't know if he had children as I no longer live in the area and have lost touch.

  • Hello I was able to find out that William and Isabella (Fallon) Leonard had a daughter, Winifred Mary "Marie" (Leonard) Griffin  who immigrated to Pittsburgh, Pa  in 1947.  I was able to find her obituary online and it contained the following alive siblings, both listed as living in England in 2000.  If any of this rings a bell I would be most appreciative.  I would love to know what happened to the two Fallon siblings (Isabella Leonard and Frank Fallon) who remained Ireland.

So far here is what I have on the children of Willian Leonard and Isabella Fallon

Leo Leonard (living somewhere in England in 2000

Gwendoline Leonard Malloy Living in England in 2000  December 1926-December 17, 2011

Winifred Mary Leonard Griffith 1928-2000 Lived in Pittsburgh, Pa from 1947 until her death

    Isabella Leonard 1923-1923

There may have been more sibling who stayed in Ireland but may have died before 2000.  The Fallon family farm was in Derreen until at least 1941 when Isabella's father John fallon passed.
