I recently found some genetic cousins connected to John Holmes of Kilfinane who married Margaret Mangan. Another distant genetic cousin traces his lineage to Mary Ann Mangan from Askeaton, roughly 50km away.
Would it be possible that these families emigrated to Sydney ? I did find a convict from Limerick ( John Holmeson on the ship Surry 1 tried in 1835 ) but have not been able to make the connection.
I have a Gedmatch number to share with interested people.
I am particulary interested in the Holmes family but another mysterious LImerick family could also be the Fitzpatricks who went over to Oxfordshire to live.
We visited Ireland recently and had a great time. Felt a great connection ! Viv in the Blue Mountains NSW Australia.

I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and the only John Holmes/Margaret Mangan marriage was in 1835 in Manister (also Fedamore) RC parish.
John Holmes may have been from Kilfinance but that parish is a good deal south of Manister/Fedamore. I did not find any children for this couple on Roots Ireland.

I am interested in any information on my 2nd great grandfather, John Holmes, mentioned above and my 2nd great grandmother, Margaret Mangan (above). Are there any records of their parents or their births?

John Holmes birthday was February 9, 1808, born in Kilfinane. He died February 21, 1872 in Fort Edward, NY. This information came from his tombstone.

The RC baptismal records for Kilfinnane start in June 1832 so there would be no record for your John Holmes.
Have you considered DNA testing?
