My ancestery immigrated to America in 1836 and 1843 from Londonderry having lived in the County of Donegal, Parish Inishkeel.  I understand that the landlord system existed at this time.  Where can I find the name of the landlord over my ancesters.  They were from the Townland of Mully about 7 miles east of Glenties.  Many thanks for any suggestions.  Thanks

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

www.askaboutireland.ie is probably your best source for the 1857 Griffiths Valuation. I don't know if this link will work but the landlord in 1857 for Mully townland was the Marquis of Conyngham.

I also located the Tithe records for Mully from 1833 but I don't see the landlord mentioned.

  • Roger,

We plan to visit Ireland in 2021.  We will be in Inishkeel and looking for traces of our Campbell ancesters.  We beleive they came from Mully Townland.  Do you know if there is a cemetery in Mully or people living there.  If we come as planned, could we meet up with you?  Many thanks,

    Bill McCafferty

    I live near Baltimore Maryland.

There would be people living in Mully now but unlikely there would be a cemetery in the townland. From FindaGrave, it appears there are three cemeteries in the area   https://www.findagrave.com/cemetery-browse/Ireland/County-Donegal/Glent…

If your ancestors left before the Famine, it is unlikely there would be any headstones for your family that may have remained in Ireland.

The 1901 census for Mully townland did not show any Campbell families.

Here is a link to the local Catholic church in Glenties.
