Searching for info my G-G-grandparents James Young of Cloghinch, Rusheen , 1817-1881 and his wife Joanna Ryan 1830-1870 married Templederry in 1849. James Parents were Mary Margaret Morris and James Young.  Joannas parents were John Ryan and Mary (unknown). James and Joannas first child ,Mary was born 1850 and died soon after, buried at Templederry My g-grandfather , James Francis Sydney Neptune Young, was born as the ship Neptune entered Sydney Harbour in 1853. The family stayed with a cousin, Peggy Kennedy and then headed to the Daylesford gold Diggings, where many descendents still live. Would love any info of their Irish lives. cheers Rod Jeffery

    Rod. My name is Pat Foley. My aunt Mary Anne Madden married Tim Young of rusheen. I am at present searching records for my family tree and have discovered the following about your acestors.

    Jame your GGgrandfather: his parents were James Young of Rusheen born in 1R85. James' wife was Mary kennedy of Killeen. Killen is in the area of Dolla, Tipperary. 

    James your GGgrandfather had four sisters and two brothers. (1) Mary before 1814,  (2)Patrick before 1814,  (3)John before 1814. (4)Ellen 30 jan 1815, (5)James (Himself) 15 Apr 1817. (6) Margaret "Peg" 26 Dec 1819 and (7)Bridget Mary born C 1826.

    (1) Mary, married James Ryan of Drom. their six children were born in Kille, some emigrated to Australia. Their son John(3) married Johanna Brerton on Shannakill. Their was residing in Borrisbeg at the time of the 1911 census.This is online at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Tipperary/Drom/Borrisbeg/827477/

    (2) Patrick married Mary Ryan of Upperchurch10 frb 184. Patrick died in 1855 and Mary in 1900 both in Rusheen. A decendant of patrick became the mayor of Syracuse New York from 1986 to 1993.Thomas Ganley young.

    (3) John married Mary kennedy of Templederry 18 Nov 1845. They had ten children, two emigrated to New Mexico and one to NewYork.

    (4) Ellen married Thomas ryan, had a family of eight in Rusheen, their last daughter ellen was born in 1857. (might have more info soon)

    (5)JAMES. your ancestor. married Johanna "Hannah" Ryan of templederryand their first baby was Mary was born in Clohinch,Rusheen on 18 Apr 1850. Rody Ryan and Ellen ryan were sponsors at baptism.M Spain was the priest.  James their next child was born as you say in quarintine abord the "Neptune" 07 Feb 1852. James married Ann "winifred" Greniff 26 June 1873. They had a familyof ten.James, the son was called "Snake eyes" not sure why.I have his picture and that of his wife, Have mor info onthis family,
    (6) Margaret "Peg" married Jeremiah "Jerry2 Kennedy, they had four children in Cummer and the followin seven in Australia. Jeremiah died while running away from cutting trees illegally. he died from apoplexy, on 31 May 1870.

    (8) Bridget married Michael Kennedy. they had their first three children in Templederry, Rusheen and Cullohill and the followin four in Australia. They lived in 98 Arden St. North Melbournein the Colony of Victoria. this house was left to francis patrick Kennedy on 13 may 1894. They also had a son James Michael, mentioned in the will of Bridget, he lived in Shaftsbury Street Essendon.He got a House at 96 Arden street. Willaim, a son, received a house and lands on O'Shaughnessy Street  North Melburne.

    I have more info on families that stayed in Ireland.

  • Hi Pat sorry for the late reply the information you provided is fascinating and we really helpful I am also called snake eyes due to my very dark almost black eyes which seemed to follow people around the room are there any more information you have would be greatly appreciated cheers Rod Jeffrey
