My 2G grandfather was born about 1805 in Kilmorgan parish, Branchfield town land county Sligo.  Emigrated about 1834 To Quebec for a time, married Bridget Gillan in 1836 in Vermont. Settled in Susquehanna county PA. Looking for his siblings that may have remained in Ireland.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

The baptismal records for Emlaghfad/Kilmorgan RC parish start in 1856 but marriages start in 1824. There were nine Cawley marriages in the parish from 1827-1835 but there are no indicators on the records that would point to a sibling connection with John.

The 1858 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Kilmorgan does show a Hugh and Thomas Cawley listed in Branchfield. http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/sligo/kilmorgan.htm

Have you considered autosomal DNA testing?

You may also want to post John's story on our XO Chronicles site https://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-dat…
