Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Dowras is not an offical townland name. I looked at Google Maps and located Dowras about 4.8 miles northeast of Birr town on the N52 road near a place called Fivealley. Likely Dowras is within the civil parish of Eglish which is the civil parish north of Birr parish. The 1853 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Eglish civil parish shows two Patrick Murray records. Likely one of the two was the father of John Murray. https://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/offaly/eglish.php

Thanks again Roger. I am unsure if I acknowledged this response previously.
