Hello, I’m looking for any additional information on James W Kaylor born about 1-22-1824 , 2-2-1825. Died in Ct. USA 1905. Possibly born in County Kerry.
His wife was Ellen Conlan was born 1828 in Dublin. Died 1883 in CT, USA. They did have a son Richard born 4-5-1866.
Any additional information parents, location , dates when they came to the USA would be appreciated. I have tried Kaylor, Kaler, Kelleher or point me in the right direction.
Thank you,
Paul

Dear Paul:
Thank you for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out message board and welcome to the site.
Have you been able to obtain a copy of James Kaylor's death certificate in CT? That might give further clues as to names of parents.
I see that James Kaylor is buried in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in New Milford, CT which has this listed on the Find A Grave website. Unfortunately, there isn't any photograph. Have you seen this headstone? It might be worth while to try to get a photo (volunteers from Find A Grave will do this) and/or to phone the Cemetery Office to see if they have any information on the plot.
I also note that the Hale Collection of Cemetery Inscriptions (which is available on Ancestry) has a list of the named family members (probably from the headstone) in this plot.
Here is a transcription of the information for you:
Kaylor, Richard born 1866, died Nov. 6, 1932, age 66 years, 7 months, 1 day
Kaylor, Annie wife of Richard, born 1871
Kaylor, James, died June 23, 1905 age 85 yrs
Kaylor, Ellen, wife of James, died Sept 18, 1883, age 60 yrs
It is worth getting a photograph of the above as the headstone may note a county of origin. I also see on Ancestry a copy of Richard's birth certificate which notes that he was born in Roxbury, CT in 1866. I also see that James Kaylor was married twice as per a marriage certificate which is also on Ancestry. His parents names are noted as Dennis Kaylor and Ellen Murphy. Yet, at the bottom of the marriage record, he is noted as James Kelleher. You are right to look at both variations.
I would recommend that you try to get further information from the Cemetery Office, have a look for a death certificate for James Kaylor, and have a look at Ancestry. If you do not have an Ancestry account, most public libraries in the U.S. have one that you can access to view.
Please get back to me if you have further questions.
You can reply with further information to this thread.
The best of luck.
Jane

Hi Jane,
Thank you for your assistance. I’m on ancestry and was wondering where you found that James was married twice and the Kelleher notation at the bottom of the page.
Thanks, Paul
