You didn't say how old Valentine was when he emigrated. Could this be him?

Sorry, I misread the above...thought he emigrated in 1842!  This Valentine is 5 years older, but may still be your Valentine.  Ages vary greatly in census and other records.

Hi Patricia I'm not sure all the census give date of birth as 1842 or 1843 apparently he had a brother Thomas born 1845

Although this Valentine is a bit older than you believe he should be, don't discount him. Ages/years vary greatly in records of Irish individuals. People were not so aware of their birthdate as we are.  Some people did not know when they were born. Birthdays weren't celebrated.  Also, Valentine may not have provided the info to the census taker; someone else may have done so.

The 1837 Valentine had at least four siblings, as per Roots Ireland. I did not see a Thomas, but that does not mean there wasn't one.
