Im looking for information on Ellen(born 25 June 1877) and Catherine Maxwell(born 14 Nov 1880) both born in Rathdrum, Co Wicklow to Thomas Maxwell, a blacksmith born in Roscommon and Brigid Farrell. Their siblings were Mary Jane, Timothy and Thomas. I know what happened to everyone in this family except those two sisters.

Of what I do know:

Brigid Farrell, their mother was sent to a lunatic asylum circa 1882. Ellen was sent to St Michaels Industrial School in Wexford with Mary Jane as it was decided Thomas was unfit to care for his children. Ellen left sometime in the 1890s and began working for the Berthistles at 7 Denzille Street Trinity, where she resided in the 1901 census. On 31 Jan 1909 she married labourer Michael Tracey of Dublin. I cannot find them anywhere on the 1911 census. I know they at least had May(born 14 Aug 1909), Elizabeth(born 2 Apr 1911, died 12 Apr 1914) and Bridget(born 10 Mar 1914). But I'm sure there were more children, and I'm interested in knowing what became of May, Bridget and any others, ie. who did they marry, did they have any children? I think Ellen died 13 Mar 1952 and was wondering also is there any way of finding what graveyard she was buried in? She was living at 56 Georges Street at the time of her death but died in St Kevins Hospital.

As for Catherine: I think after her mother was sent away, she was admitted to Rathdrum Workhouse along with her younger brother Thomas, someone said possibly to be adopted out? Does anyone know if adoption actually happned at the workhouse? I know Thomas died as a baby in the workhouse but Catherine disappears entirely. I have never found any death or marraige records for her in Wicklow or Roscommon(where her father moved back to in the 1890s). It could be a possibility she was eventually sent to the industrial school also when she was a bit older(i think you had to be at least five) and got a job as a servant in Dublin like or sisters or she may have gone to the States in later years. I'd love to find out what happened to her.

Many thanks

Alicia
