  • Margaret was born at St. Tenants townland (see entry 119 in the register) which is in in Ballyconnick civil parish, and is located near Bridgetown and roughly half-way between Wellingtonbridge and Rosslare - see placename database. Her father John is shown as a Farmer and he registered the birth with his mark. Civil birth records show a number of younger siblings to Margaret :

Ellen Larkin born 25th September 1867
John Larkin born 14th February 1869
James Larkin born 4th September 1871

All born in St. Tenents townland. I also located baptisms for two children born before the start of civil birth records, both in Rathangan RC parish (Ferns Diocese) :

Eliza Larkin bapt. 12th June 1860 (see last entry of the left page)
Patrick Larkin bapt. 21st August 1861 (abt. half way down left page)

John Larkin and Catherine Kennedy also married in Rathangan Catholic parish on the 25th October 1859  (see 4th entry from the end of the left page)

Some of the family appears in St. Tenants townland for the 1901 census, including Catherine as a widow with James & Ellen, plus another son Nicholas. There's no sign of Margaret at home ...

I dont see a likely marriage for Margaret & Edward in Irish records - did they emigrate ?

  • Hello shanew147……….Thank you ever so much for your efforts in finding the above information for me.  This will make our visit to Wexford so much more enjoyable and meaningful.  The McGrath's were married in Boston...not in Ireland as we once thought.  Again....Thank you.
