  • Hi Gregory,

Does the marriage record have her address by any chance?

There are 26 Mary Maher with father James birth/baptism records 1800 + - 10 years on www.rootsireland.ie/ Newcastle is listed as Newcastle and Fourmilewater R C but none of the records is from there.

  • Thank you both so much. How kind if you to spend your time providing help to me.
Just yesterday with the free Irish records I believe I was able to find more info.
Thomas the marriage certificate you provided is the exact. I have an official copy and it's funny how it is slightly different . Mine just says gaurd.
Which to me an American didn't make me think police. It didn't say ex. Is gaurd police?
Also Thomas what exactly do they mean "spinster"?
I think the birth you provided is not mine. My mother's birth certificate states Mary as 38 in 1926. Is that spinster?
I believe located her family though yesterday.
At frehens(?) Ballybacon Tipperary. Mother Mary
    Born 1888.
I have not found an actual birth certificate though.
Does anyone know how to locate houses from a census? Like house 7?
Again thank you very much Roger, Cool and Thomas. Much obliged.

  • Tom Hussey,

I hope you don't feel i am admonishing you. My writing skills must be inadequate as my intent was quite the opposite.

I very much appreciate you working on this, providing your time, skill and kindness to a perfect stranger.

Of course you could only guess at which Mary since it was me that didn't post her age.

these new documents you have posted are great

    and i thank you profusely.

    Thank You!!!!

  • Hi,

I saw this thread and thought I could help a little.

There's only two Christopher Cousins registered as born in Ireland. The two records can be found online at irishgenealogy.ie

Only one of the records can be viewed who happened to be the son of James Cousins and Margaret Coisins nee Nash. Christopher was born on 4th Dec 1902 and they lived in 26 Lincoln St, Belfast.

Being a civic guard (Policeman), Christopher would have been moved around from county to county and perhaps this is how he met his wife Mary Maher.

A spinster is the female equivalent of a bachelor - meaning she was eligable to marry.
