Greetings! I'm researching my great great grandparents that I've traced back to Moville. I'm interested in any information that can be provided. In addition to what I know below, I have seen other McKinney/Mckennas in the Griffiths Valuation, but not sure how they are related. I'm hoping one of them may take me back another generation. Here is what I know:
JAMES MCKINNEY was born about 1833. He died in Donegal, Ireland. He married Susan McDermott before 1853 in Moville, Donegal, Ireland. She was born about 1833. She died after Jun 1864 in Donegal, Ireland. They had the following known children:
WILLIAM MCKINNEY was born on 05 Nov 1853 in Moville, Donegal, Ireland. William married MARGARET ANNE CAREY on 24 Sep 1872 in Moville, Donegal, Ireland. She was born about 1856 in Donegal, Ireland. She died on 29 Nov 1888 in Moville, Donegal, Ireland. William then married ELIZABETH MCLOUGHLIN before 24 Feb 1892 in Moville, Donegal, Ireland. She was born in 1848 in Ireland. She died between 1893-1900 in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, USA. William died on 14 Feb 1933 in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, USA.
BRIDGET MCKINNEY was born on 19 Oct 1856 in Moville, Donegal, Ireland (Eleven Ballyboes). She died on 26 Jul 1933 in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, USA. She married Michael Henry Ennis in 1886. He was born in May 1855 in Ireland. He died on 10 Nov 1914 in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, USA.
SUSAN MCKINNEY was born about 1860 in Moville, Donegal, Ireland. She died on 29 May 1922 in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, USA.
JOHN MCKINNEY was born on 02 Nov 1860 in Moville, Donegal, Ireland. He died on 30 Mar 1936 in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, USA. He married Maria Frances Crocker Wilson about Nov 1886 (probably Brooklyn). She was born on 16 Jan 1870 in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, USA. She died on 08 Oct 1905 in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, USA. John arrives in New York 20 May 1879. He first shows up in New York in the 1880 census and is listed with his brother Daniel as "cousin" to John Pepper and his wife Susan (born in Ireland.) I have reason to believe Susan's maiden name was McGuinness.
DANIEL C. MCKINNEY was born on 17 Jun 1864 in Moville, Donegal, Ireland. He died on 16 Apr 1914 in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, USA. He married Elizabeth Higgins in 1886. She was born about 1870 in New York, USA. She died on 25 Nov 1932 in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, USA.

The 1857 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Moville Lower civil parish shows four McKenny records in Eleven Ballyboes https://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/donegal/movillelower.htm
I assume they are all related and the James was likely the father who married Susan McDermott.
The RC records for Moville Lower parish start in 1847.. I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not find a marriage record but based on your info, I would assume the marriage was 1847 or later. The only baptismal records I located were for Bridget, John and Daniel. Not sure why the other records did not show up. I also scanned the 1827/1828 Tith listings for Eleven Ballyboes and see three McKinney records: Alexander, William and widow. Not sure who might be connected to James. William?

Thank you Roger. Yes, I have the 1857 but unfortunately no ages, so not sure of the relationships. Also, have scanned the parish registers and the Tith listings, but again no relationships. I appreciate your reply!

Hi, I am researching my 3x great-grandmother Ann McKinney (I don't have her maiden name), and her children Frances (my 2x great-grandmother), Daniel, and Owen. I know from family that they were from Donegal, and I believe they lived in Moville (see note on Owen below). The approximate dates I have are:
• Ann McKinney born in Ireland c 1805 (though not as McKinney)
Children, though I can't find any record for Ann's husband, their father:
• Frances McKinney born in Ireland c 1827
• Daniel McKinney born in Ireland c 1834
• Owen McKinney born in Ireland c 1839 (I have one census record for Owen citing Moville as his birthplace -- actually it says Mevilee, Donegal, but it looks as if this must be Moville).
Emigrated to US in late 1840s per US census records, then lived in Brooklyn, NY (Kings County) from the 1850s into the 20th century.
I have found various US census records that document them living as a family, but have found no emigration/immigration records for them either individually or as a group; nor have I found any records for them at all in Ireland. I have checked as many sites as I can find (Ancestry, Roots Ireland, Ireland.xo, Moville Heritage Facebook page), as well as the parish(es) in Moville, who report that they don't have records before 1847.
I am very interested in documenting their lives and relatives in Ireland and would be delighted if anyone has any info on this group. Thank you!PMaMc
