Hello,
I have traced my husband's Miskell ancestors back to County Galway using DNA. One of my husband's ancestors, Patrick Miskell (Miskill/Misken) born circa 1778, was from the parrish of Killcrick, Foxboro, County Galway. I have attached a "Missing Friends" ad from the Boston Pilot dated 1844. I was wondering if you could find any additional information on Patrick or any other Miskell relatives from that parrish. Any informaton that you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Dawn Harvey.

Hi Dawn
Welcome to IrelandXO.
The placenames were often mispelled in the Boston Pilot entries.
There was a Miskill family in Kilchreest / Roxborough / Ballycuddy area which is most likely the connection. Church records for Kilchreest start in 1855.
1 Thomas Miskell b: in Kilchreest
+Sarah "Sally" Madden b: 1840
2 Thomas Miskell b: 1863
2 Mary Miskell b: 18.4.1866 in Kilchreest
2 Catherine Miskell b: 7.7.1868 in Kilchreest
2 Sabina Miskell b: 2.4.1870 in Kilchreest
2 Michael Miskell b: 29.5.1872
2 Bridget Miskell b: 7.10.1874 in Kilchreest
+James Earls b: in Kiltulla
2 Sarah Miskell b: 16.1.1877 in Kilchreest
2 Martin Miskell b: 19.11.1879 in Kilchreest

Hello Dawn,
Patrick Miskell, born circa 1778 Killcrick, Foxboro, County Galway, Ireland is my 2nd great-grandfather through his son Frederick.
There are no Harvey's down my branch. How is your husband related?

Hello Catherine! Harvey is my maiden name and my husband's last name is Schmidt. His second great grandmother was Elizabeth Miskell Cleary. Elizabeth's father was Thomas Miskell. My husband and mother-in-law, Patricia Hartman, are both DNA matches with the descendants of Frederick Miskell. Both my husband and mother-in-law and descendants of Frederick Miskell are also shared matches with other descendants of Elizabeth Miskell Cleary, which is why I know that Thomas Miskell was definetly related to Patrick Miskell. I believe that Patrick is either the father or uncle of Thomas. Thomas was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1820 and his father was born in Ireland. There are no birth records for Thomas in Maryland in 1820 (the Maryland Archives stated I wouldn't find civil birth records from this time period). Thomas' death record did not list the names of his parents. Any additional information that you could provide would be greatly appreciated. I have several records for Thomas Miskell on a public tree on Ancestry.com. I could send you an invite if you are interested. I look forward to hearing from you! Best Regards, Dawn Harvey-Schmidt.
