I posted this yesterday and got a great reply with a marriage and census link but before I could look at them something happened and it seems to have deleted my post, so sorry. Especially to whoever replied it was great. Hi all, I’m trying to piece together a O’Connell family from cork. I would love to know if I’ve gone in the right direction. Timothy O’Connell Married Julia lane and kids Dennis and Ellen. Dennis b abt 1846 married Mary Fleming? They had around 10 kids, Dennis and Mary’s daughter Anne Married John O’Shea. They had abt 8 kids. Did they have a daughter called Mary b abt 1872? Have I gone the right way? Anyone know anything about Anne and John O’Shea? I think my gr grandmother Mary might have been an Illegitimate child born to Anne and Jon’s daughter Mary And so raised by them. I think they lived in Greenane. Thanks

I responded to the message yesterday. Here is the civil marriage record for Denis and Mary Fleming. Both families lived in Croanrea townland in Kilmeen civil parish in Cork near the border with Co. Kerry. The RC parish is Boherbue and you can find the church marriage record on the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie

I was not able to find a baptismal record for Denis using the parents names above. I searched on the same free site. I did find four possible baptismal records for siblings of Denis much further south in Co. Cork. The RC parish was Kilmurry, Moviddy, Kilbonane and Cannavee. The children were Jude 1831 Anne 1837 John 1841 Mick 1846. The record for mick is below. No marriage record for Timothy and Johanna Lane.

  • Thank you so much for reposting this, it’s just what I wanted to know - if Denis could have had a sister called Anne. Hopefully on right track now but not sure how much more I can find now.
    Best
