Hello,
I'm looking for information on Penelope Meagher and her husband Cain Carroll. I found a possible death record for Penelope on irishgenealogy.ie. but I don't know if this is my ancestor. The record states she died in Parsonstown in1867, she was 60 years old. I could not find a death record for Cain Carroll in Parstonstown.
I do have three possible daughters for this couple, Mary, possibly between 1820-1836. Two census records in the US have her year of birth as about 1830, one has it Oct 1823, and one has her birth as about 1836. Cemetery records for Mary and Margaret list their parents as Cain Carroll and Penelope Maher. Mary married in the US, but Margaret never married. The last daughter is Bridget, born about 1844 and died in Pennsylvania. Bridget married John Regan on May 2, 1864. Cain Carroll is listed as her father.
Any information to confirm this relationship would be greatly appreciated.

In case you're interested, Cain and Kean are variant anglicizations of the Irish given name Cian, which is also sometimes anglicized as Kian. It's an old Irish name, unrelated to the Biblical Cain, and comes from a word meaning ancient.
