Looking for relations of Daniel Ryan (1868-1948) who married Mary Kinirons in New York in 1890 - they had at least 10 children. Daniels parents were Stephen Ryan and Mary Hogan who married in Nenagh in 1859 and they had at least eight children - six girls and two boys - and lived in the townland of Currabaha a few miles northwest of Borrisoleigh, Co. Tipperary. The ancestors of Stephen and Mary have proven elusive - any help appreciated. Liam

  • Hi LiamK,
I have searched, but I would need more children's names to confirm my findings.
I have Daniel in 1868, the registration district is Thurles.
    Names please, thanks

  • Margot,

    Thanks for your response.

I have identified the following children of Stephen Ryan and Mary Hogan - all births recorded in Borrisoleigh which is in Thurles Reg. District I believe

    Bridget (1860), Sally (1861), Anne (1865), Daniel (1868), Denis (1870), Margaret (1872), Johanna (1874), Catherine (1877),

The only one of these children I have firm info on regarding where they lived, married and died is Daniel who went to America, married Mary Kinirons, had 10 children, worked as a driver, lived in Manhattan and is buried in the Bronx.

I believe that Denis married a Margaret, had a son James and is buried in Glenkeen.

Any info on the family greatly appreciated. Liam

  • Margot, many thanks for all that work, much appreciated.

How to find what happened to the daughters of that family is the real challenge. If they stayed and married we might find marriage records with the brides fathers name as Stephen but if they emigrated then where to start looking??

    Again, thanks a million
