    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Any chance she was baptized Elizabeth? The subscription site Roots Ireland has an 1826 Elizabeth Doyle baptismal record with father Terence in Avoca. See below

  • Thankyou for your reply, I did come across this entry, I am not sure if she was baptised as Elizabeth I only know what I have seen on the wedding certificate, her father was Terence and I dont know if that is a very common irish name, but I have noticed a lot of people seem to choose another name for some reason in those days, so she could be Elizabeth, do you have any suggestions on where I can go from here, anything is appreciated.

I found the info below can you tell me if the T/ in the address has any meaning, would there be any possibility of me following any thing up from this address

Griffith Evaluation (Doyle Ellen T/bray - Main St. Bray Co. Wicklow)

Griffith Evaluation (Moore Michael - T/bray Main St. Bray Co. Wicklow)

    Thanks heaps Christine

T would be town of Bray.

I looked at Roots ireland again and found the likely marriage reocrd for the parents of the 1826 Elizabeth Doyle. I did not find any baptismal recors for possible siblings. Here is a link to the Avoca parish register up to 1880.  https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0460

  • I am assuming the mother's name change could be just due to legability do you think this is so, thankyou for your marriage info, I am now thinking she was Elizabeth not Ellen and this is why I have had trouble finding her. Thanks for the link I will try and find siblings in Tinahely and Bray parishes maybe they moved.

  • Hello Christine,

I stubbled across your post while Googling some family threads which I had given up on, having hit a deadend some years ago.

I beleive you may also be researching the root of my family tree. My name is Mark Moore and I am the GG Grandson of Michael and Ellen Moore, nee Doyle who arrived in Adelaide in 1852 on the Marshall Bennett. I hit a deadend when I tried to trace Michael and Ellen to Ireland, having given up upon also finding a Michael Moore and Ellen Doyle in County Wicklow, in the town of Bray, not knowing with any certainty whether there was a connection.

I would be pleased to share my family history/tree, as best I know it, although knowing nothing of the Ireland connection, but having some understanding post Micahel and Ellen's arrival in Adelaide.

Would be pleased to hear from you.

    Kind regards, Mark.
