Looking for James Sparrow's wife's surname with her first name of Ann/Anne/Anna.  James' brother Jonathan Sparrow was from County Kilkenny.  Jonathan married Rebecca Calbeck (most likely from County Kilkenny) in Montreal, Canada.  James' sister Fanny was married 1803-12-20 in Kilmanagh, Kilkenny to William Wesley Cox.  He being from Potterath, County Kilkenny. Another brother, Thomas Sparrow, was married to Elizabeth Alice Coyne.

James was born about 1787, place unknown.  James & Ann's known first child was Thomas Sparrow born July 1812 in County Kilkenny, 2nd child John baptized July 29, 1813 in the St Canice's Church of Ireland (Anglican) in Kilmanagh, followed by 2 more siblings Mary & Michael in the same church in 1815 & 1818 respectively.  Earliest known date of his immigration to Canada was 1820. (as per Canadian census 1842).  Ann is not found in Canada, and also their son John.  No know death or places of burial for the two of them.  It could be possible they died during ship's voyage.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.  Thanking you in advance for any help received.

  • Ann:

Not sure why but the older Church of Ireland baptismal records only show the first name of the mother. The marriage records for St. Canice's C of I church do not begin until 1844 so no available marriage record. No church death record and civil registration of deaths did not begin until 1864. In summary, I don't think we can locate the maiden name for Ann.

  • Thomas, John, Mary, Michael may have their parents' names listed on their marriage records.

The parents' names may also be on their death records.

Also, sometimes newspaper obituaries state the parents' names.

    I hope this helps.
