William Tuohy shows up on 1850 Griffith's valuation  as a tenant farmer in Polygon Lane, Kiltillane County Tipperary. I believe he was married to Mary Lamy. His son William Henry aka Pat Tuhey b 1847 arrived in Australia in 1866. Pat is my great great grandfather.  I'm interest in learning more about William or his wife Mary and their children.

Any possibiliy the mother's first name was Ellen? The subscription site Roots Ireland has a February 22 1841 marriage in Drom RC parish between a William Tuohy and an Ellen Leamy. That couple had four children that I can locate:

Mary baptized June 21 1842 Patrick baptized August 29 1844 Denis baptized October 24 1847 Judith July 16 1849 Mary was baptized in Drom and the other three were baptized in Templemore

My apologies Roger I saw 3 versions of my post and your answer and thought I was only deleting one version. oops tricks for new players.  Fortunately I had copied it into another file.
I very much wanted to thankyou for you speedy reply and interest.  Yes I think Ellen Leamy is a viable match.  Patrick's baptism date means he would have been 22 when he left for Australia in 1866. Very feasible.  Also, I note that being born during the potato famime to a tenant farmer would perhaps indicate a childhood which included periods of food shortages.

Are you able to determine if Denis emigrated as well?

There is no Denis Tuohy death record up to 1900 that would fit someone who was born around 1847. There is no Denis Tuohy in the 1901 census that was around 53. Likely he emigrated unless he died very young We don't have good outbound records to check for emigration.
