Athenry Castle

The castle at Athenry was built in approximately 1250 and is open to the public today as a major visitor attraction in the town. In 2015 it hosted Athenry's Medieval Festival as part of National Heritage Week. It is surrounded by a public park and offers a great attraction for tourists and school children who want to learn more about the development of the walled town and the castle itself.

Guided tours are available at certain times during the year.
